Melissa Jane Missy Swisher (Thomas)

Melissa Jane “Missy” Thomas, 72, Gosport, IN, a longtime Morgan County resident, passed from this life on Monday, July 17th, 2017 at the Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born July 18, 1944 in Martinsville, IN to the late Roy Eugene and Mildred Lucille (Lehr) Swisher.  
Missy was a Martinsville High School graduate with the Class of 1962 and a graduate of Indiana Business College. She enjoyed NASCAR, but most importantly took great pride in watching her grandchildren grow up and adored time shared with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 292, where she had served as past Worthy Matron, Elks Lodge #1349 and Job’s Daughters. Missy received Christ as her savior and was baptized at the Centerton Christian Church and a member of the Zion’s Hill Baptist Church, where she most recently attended.  
She leaves behind her loving family including her husband, Glenn Campbell Thomas, whom she married on March 15, 1975, Glenn survives in Gosport, IN; sons, William Christopher (Jo) Cross of Pendleton, IN, Bill (Darla) Thomas of Spencer, IN, Jerry (Colette) Thomas of Meade, KS and Tony Thomas (Teresa Hale) of Martinsville, IN; daughters, Brenda (Larry) Culver of Mooresville, IN and Mitzi Hardwick of Speedway, IN; sister, Myla Gene Dwyer and nephew, Michael Thomas (Kellie) Dwyer of Anderson IN; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Tom Dwyer.  
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 pm and Thursday, July 20th from 9:00-10:00 am at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Missy’s life will begin Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest following the service at Zion’s Hill Cemetery in Martinsville.
