Obituary for Sharon D. Bales

Sharon D. Bales, 72, of Martinsville passed from this life on Friday, February 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Topeka, Kansas, on July 15, 1944 to the late Raymond Joseph and Alma Louise (McKee) Fraker.  
Sharon moved to Martinsville with her family as a young girl and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1962. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville.  
In February 2008, Sharon retired from Rural King in Martinsville after she was faced with medical hardships. She had previously worked at Wavetek in Indianapolis during the 1980-90’s and at Danner’s in Martinsville during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. On her spare time, Sharon enjoyed doing crafts and embroidery work and without a doubt, her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
She is survived by many friends and family who will miss her deeply including her daughter, Melanie (Dean) Hacker of Martinsville; two sons, Mike (Nicole) Bales and Steve (Jennifer) Bales both of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, Allison (Ronnie) McKim, Morgan and Carsyn Hacker, and Addey, Beau, Carlee, Anna and Alec Bales and two great grandchildren, Henley and Ezra McKim.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Anna Marie Fraker and one grandson, Austin Michael Bales.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, March 1st from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and on Thursday, March 2nd from 12 Noon – 1:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. A funeral service celebrating Sharon’s life will be on Thursday, March 2nd at 1:00 pm at the funeral home and she will be laid to rest following the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Martinsville.
