Don Irvin Brent Boner

Don I. Boner, 77, known as Brent to family and friends, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on November 4, 2021. He died in his home in Morgan County, surrounded by his loving family.

Brent was born in Indianapolis, IN to, Kenneth and Harriett Boner. Growing up in Morgan County, Brent attended both grade school there and graduated from MHS.  He was a proud graduate of the Class of ’62 and regularly attended his high school reunions. Brent attended one year at Indiana Business College.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving honorably in the U.S. Navy.  He achieved the rank of ETR2, Electronics Technician Radar, 2nd Class Petty Officer while having a classified clearance. After leaving the Navy, Brent began working at the Naval Warfare Center known as Naval Avionics. In 1968, he would receive recognition for suggestions that helped the plant save money. After retiring in 1993, Brent decided to start back to work. He worked ten years at the Walmart Return Center.

Brent had many interests. He loved spending time on his farm near Madison, Indiana. He spent his time building a home, preparing and tending to his fields in preparation for deer hunting in the fall. Also, Brent enjoyed turkey hunting in the spring. He was proud of the “twin” bucks he shot, making sure those were mounted and hung side by side! Also, Brent was pleased with the turkey he shot and had a full-body mount completed.  Other interests included IU Basketball during the Bobby Knight years, Pacers Basketball, Indy Car Racing, and Nascar Racing during the Jeff Gordan/Danica Patrick years. Also, he was an avid Trump supporter. Brent leaves behind his loved ones: brother, Curt Boner, wife Mary; sister, Anita Martin, husband Phil; sister and caregiver, Star Fallahay; sister-in-law, Josefa Boner; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.  Brent was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Harriett Boner, a brother, Larry Boner, and a nephew, SFC Darrin Curt Boner.

Brent’s Celebration of Life will be at Village Bible Church, 695 Pushville Rd., Greenwood, Indiana, 46143. Visiting hours will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Life following at 1:00 p.m. There will be no funeral following the service.    The family would appreciate donations made to the Alzheimer Association Website: act.alz.org.
